Chakardar promotes the living tradition of tabla through performance, learning and community by presenting concerts and events, supporting artists, and creating meaningful opportunities to learn.
Rooted in Indian classical music, our work connects audiences and musicians across generations and we aim to share the depth, joy and continuing relevance of this remarkable art form.

We exist for music lovers and learners alike to provide the following:
Education
Committed to quality teaching, we continue to develop all students to their highest capacity with regular lessons, workshops, experiences and group development. Our annual retreat has been running ever since 2003 with pride.
Performance
We celebrate excellence in tabla through performances from tabla maestros and other artistes across disciplines such as rhythm, instrumental, vocal and dance, showcasing UK based and international artistes.
Events and Ensemble
From cosy baithaks to larger auditoriums, Chakardar events bring music lovers together for a shared experience with friends and family. The Chakardar Ensemble presents the power of tabla in a group setting.
“I have been attending lessons and the summer school as a student for over 15 years and experienced first-hand the incredible maestro performances that Chakardar has brought into the country for our benefit. It has shaped my playing, knowledge and development considerably…”
