Amarvir Singh Chana and Tejpal Singh Chana

Both are from a musical family, and have been performing in ‘Chakardar’ for the past 7 years and also
accompany classical and devotional music. Amarvir gets credit for designing this website!!!

Amritpal Singh Notay

A keen enthusiast, Amrit has been learning for 15 years and is now himself a teacher of Tabla in Hounslow. In
addition to ‘Chakardar’ he accompanies classical and devotional vocalists and has partaken in cultural
programmes. Amrit's forte is speed playing!!!

Dilraj Singh Phaloura

Runner up in the Sampooma Sangeet Mela, Dilraj has been performing in ‘Chakardar’ for the past 8 years at
various venues up and down the country. He also accompanies vocal musicians. Dilraj does some wicked
Tirekite bols - check em out at the next concert.

Gurdain Singh Rayatt

Gurdain started learning tabla from his father at the age of 4. He has won various awards including the
Sampoorna Sangeet Mela Junior Indian Musician of the Year, and been a prize winner in the South Woodham
Young musician of the year. This has further resulted in solo performances for the Leeds International Music
Festival, Vindravan Music Society, etc, and has performed in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales in
London at the V & A Museum and at the Royal Albert Hall. Gurdain is also a member of SAMYO.

Omkar Singh Chana

Having returned to Tabla playing after a studying break, Omkar has performed at Chancellor Hall, and at various
other venues with the group. Omkar is the tukra man!!!

Harkiret Singh Bahra

Harkiret is also one of the rising stars in tabla playing in the UK. He started learning tabla at the age of eight, and has since performed in numerous Chakardar events. He is also one of the SAMYO artists performing across the UK. Harkiret speciality lies in performing relas from Farukhabad gharana. Harkiret was a joint winner for the under 18s Sampoorna Sangeet Samelan in 2003. He also won the duet competition with Gurdain in the same year.

Gurpreet Singh Sohal

Gurpreet has been learning for ten years and often plays tabla with kirtan in Southall. He is now becoming a regular member of Chakardar. His main interest still lies in kirtan accompaniment.

Harjeet Bahra

Harjeet started learning tabla at the age of seven. He has since performed for Chakardar and was the joint winner of the under 18s Sampoorna Sangeet Samelan in 2003. He has a powerful hand and key strength is in playing kaidas ....and he has melted a few puras through this!!

Harkirat Ghatoray

Harkirat is the youngest member of Chakardar. He started learning at the age of five and has been playing almost from the beginning!! He is a quick learner and his enthusiasm for practice has resulted in great success at an early age. His favourite bol is dhiredhire.

Hartej Sehmi

Hartej has been learning tabla for six years. He is a regular member of Chakardar and is an all rounder. His favourite bols are chalans.

Rehmat Kaur Rayatt

Rehmat plays the Tanpura and is learning the violin and drum kit.
